What did you class learn about your partner school? How was their class the same as yours? What differences did you find? Do you have a link to something your class created to share your Skype call? Click on your school name and edit your page.
Quotes from my students on the experience:
"I liked asking questions and helping solve the mystery."
"It was strange that the other school was so small."
"The best part was when we figured it out."
"I liked using Google Maps."
"I learned that meeting new people is not such a bad thing."
"I liked using my observational and geography skills."
"I learned that if you have good questions you can narrow down the state quickly."
"It was cool to talk to people almost half a country away."
"It was so exciting!"
The students enjoyed it so much, and they hope to Skype with the school again as a sort of "digital pen pal" program. Overall, I thought it went well for my first time doing something like this; however, I am not sure that the "jobs" worked so well with my group of 16 6th graders. They were so excited they all wanted to talk, but we worked out some new ideas for next time. Their problem solving skills were tested, which was not my plan, but it was a nice additional experience. Thank you to Mrs. Runk and her 6th graders for the meet up!
